I was really happy to get to draw Patsy Walker aka Hellcat on this one! Love her friendship with Jen 😼
As you can see, for concept C I included a “romantic option” because this issue was meant to introduce a new love interest for Jen, but he hadn’t been designed yet! Sometimes when you’re the main cover artist for a series, even if you want to include references to what’s happening on the interior pages, you can’t always do that because of how far ahead covers are solicited. I generally complete these illustrations at least 3 months ahead of when the actual interior pages go to print, and due to budget constraints, it’s not uncommon for characters to get designed on the page as opposed to ahead of time.
No worries though, I definitely got the chance to draw him on a later cover..!
