I can’t believe it’s already the end of October—where has this month gone?! I’m sorry for the pause in posts in the later half of this month, I flew out to LA for Lightbox Expo and discovered that after not doing any conventions for 3 years due to the pandemic, I’m now a total rookie and have zero stamina for it anymore. 🫠 There was one year when I was first breaking in to comics that I did 9 shows in total, and now I’m so bad at it that I had to spend 2 weeks recovering from just one single convention, lol. Sad.
That being said, Lightbox was awesome, and it was really great to see so many folks in person for the first time after such a long period of isolation. While I was there, I got to do a panel on graphic novels & comics alongside some of the best creators in the biz: Victoria Ying, Dustin Nguyen, Mike Mignola, and Ryan Lang. Our moderator Renée di Cherri was fantastic and asked some really great questions, so if a video of the panel ends up online (which I hope it will—I’m pretty sure it was officially recorded) I’ll be sure to link it here.
If you’re an artist who wants to pursue a career in entertainment art, animation, or comics, I highly recommend checking out LBX. Even though it’s a newer event, there are always so many talented working professionals offering portfolio reviews, doing art demos, and speaking on really insightful panels every year. You’re bound to benefit from it in some capacity—I know I did!
I’ve got another work trip I’ll be flying out soon for (for a project that I haven’t talked about publicly yet but will be revealing as soon as it’s live—keep your eyes peeled next week..! 👀✨) Here’s a sneaky little preview of a piece of it for now:
I’ve been working on queueing up posts that’ll be going live while I’m traveling so there won’t be another lull just because I somehow convinced myself that I’d have time to blog while attending events, lol. 🤦🏻♀️ Once I’m back from this trip, I plan to hunker down and pay some much needed attention to personal projects that have been on the back burner for the better half of a year now, and I can’t wait to start bringing you guys along for that! In the mean time, I’ll be going back to my pre-LBX posting schedule so apologies in advance to your inboxes, lol.
Thanks so much for your patience and support, as always. 🙏💜
I love the preview pic! Glad you had a good time at the convention, I went to my first one ever in New York this past month and it was exhausting just going that one day! Can’t wait to do it again though. Come visit the northeast in ‘23!
So great to see people still masking! Here in London it's a rare sight now :/
Loving the casual style She-Hulk! :)
